Expected Features in Mahindra XUV 7XO: Triple Screens, 540-Degree Camera, and New AX9L Trim

As of late December 2025, the anticipation for the Mahindra XUV 7X0 has reached a fever pitch. This is a strategic rebranding and a massive technological leap. Following the naming convention of the successful XUV 3XO, Mahindra is officially transitioning the iconic XUV700 into the XUV 7XO.

With a confirmed debut date of January 5, 2026, this SUV aims to reclaim the crown from rivals like the Tata Safari. If you thought the original XUV700 was smart, the 7XO is about to make its predecessor look like a flip phone in a smartphone world.

Launching January 2026

Mahindra has officially begun the countdown. The Mahindra XUV 7X0 is slated for its global debut in the first week of January 2026. Pre-bookings have already commenced at several dealerships with a token amount of ₹21,000, signaling that Mahindra is ready to flood the roads with these high-tech machines by early February.

Triple-Screen Dominance

If there is one feature that will make your jaw drop, it is the new dashboard. Borrowing heavily from the luxury XEV 9e and 9S electric SUVs, the XUV 7XO will feature a triple-screen layout.

  • Driver’s Display: A 12.3-inch fully digital cluster.

  • Central Infotainment: A 12.3-inch touchscreen for all your media needs.

  • Passenger Display: A dedicated 12.3-inch screen for the co-driver to watch movies or control music without distracting the driver.

Boss Mode and Ventilated Everything

Expect the inclusion of "Boss Mode," an electric function that allows the rear passenger to slide the front co-driver seat forward at the touch of a button. Additionally, the new model is rumored to feature ventilated seats for both the front and second rows—a feature that was previously a major USP for the Tata Safari.

540-Degree Camera

Parking in tight Indian streets is a sport in itself. Mahindra is introducing a 540-degree camera system in the 7XO. While 360-degree cameras show you what’s around you, the 540-degree system includes an "invisible hood" feature. This allows you to see exactly what is happening underneath the car’s front end—a lifesaver when navigating rocky terrain or avoiding that one specific pothole that looks like a crater.

ADAS Level 2+ and 7 Airbags

Mahindra has always been the teacher’s pet when it comes to Global NCAP safety ratings. The 7XO will continue this legacy by upgrading its Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

The new system will feature real-time visualization on the digital cluster, showing you exactly how the car perceives surrounding traffic, lane markings, and pedestrians. With 7 airbags as standard on higher trims and an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto-Hold, the 7XO is essentially a rolling fortress.

Engine & Performance

  • 2.0L mStallion Turbo Petrol: Producing a massive 200 PS and 380 Nm. It’s the closest thing to a rocket ship you can buy for under ₹30 Lakh.

  • 2.2L mHawk Diesel: Producing up to 185 PS and 450 Nm. This engine is the undisputed king of highway cruising.

Both engines will be paired with the existing 6-speed Manual and 6-speed Torque Converter Automatic transmissions. And yes, for the enthusiasts, the AWD (All-Wheel Drive) option will be retained for the top-spec diesel automatic variants.

Pricing

High-tech screens and Harman Kardon speakers don't come cheap. Experts suggest the Mahindra XUV 7X0 price will start around ₹15.50 Lakh for the base MX variant and could go up to ₹28.50 Lakh for the flagship AX9L trim (ex-showroom).

This puts it in direct competition with the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and the Hyundai Alcazar. However, with the JLR-inspired platform and the new tech suite, Mahindra is positioning the 7XO more as a "budget luxury" vehicle rather than just a mid-size SUV.

The Future is "XO"

The Mahindra XUV 7X0 represents a turning point for the brand. It addresses almost every complaint users had with the original XUV700 adding an auto-dimming IRVM, a powered tailgate, and better rear-seat comfort while introducing futuristic tech that rivals struggle to match.
